Commercial buildings such as offices, malls, hotels, hospitals and campuses are air conditioned for most of the year, so heat that enters through the roof directly increases the electricity bill. Roof reflective paint is a solar reflective coating that reflects infrared radiation away from the roof and keeps the surface cooler. Less heat reaches the occupied floors, the air conditioning system carries a lower load and the building performs better on energy. Panache high SRI coatings are Green Pro certified and are used on commercial and green buildings.
High SRI systems for commercial roofs, facades and outdoor areas
The Panache range covers roofs, walls, pavements, cycle tracks, driveways and roads with Green Pro certified high SRI paints and systems. All of them work on NIR reflection technology and nanotechnology to reduce surface heat and the entry of heat into the building. A commercial project can specify the roof, the facade and the outdoor paved areas from a single range.

Know MoreAlmost 58 to 60 percent of solar radiation is infrared. On a normal commercial roof, this radiation is absorbed and converted to heat. The roof surface can reach 60 to 75 °C and the heat moves down into the building.
Roof reflective paint contains reflective pigments in a binder. It reflects the infrared radiation and prevents the substrate from heating. The result is a lower surface temperature, less heat ingress and less heat released into the atmosphere. Thermal emittance completes the effect, as it allows the surface to radiate away the heat that is not reflected.
A solar reflective coating with high reflectance and high emittance can keep a roof up to 20 to 28 °C cooler, and a wall up to 10 °C cooler, than conventional materials during peak summer. Specifiers should look for an SRI value greater than 100, which is the mark of a good cool surface material.
A commercial building has a large roof area relative to its occupied floors, and the roof is the surface that receives the most sun. At an ambient temperature of 45 °C, a cement roof surface can reach 65 to 70 °C and a metal surface 80 °C.
Air conditioning is the largest single electricity load in most commercial buildings. Reducing roof heat gain reduces this load and lowers peak power demand, which lowers the operating cost over the life of the building.
Cool roofs are a passive strategy, which means they work without power or moving parts. By raising the albedo of the roof, a building cuts unwanted solar gain, lowers pollution linked to power generation and cools the air around it. Across a city, this reduces the Urban Heat Island effect and improves air quality.
The effect of a cool surface is measured through indicators such as SRI and air temperature variation. For buildings pursuing green ratings, a reflective roof is a recognised measure. Panache products are Green Pro and GRIHA certified, and the wider range is described on the reflecting coatings page.

Commercial buildings, offices, green buildings, air conditioned buildings, shopping malls, water tanks, pipelines and metal sheet roofs, on new or old RCC roofs.
Driveways, campus roads, pathways and cycle tracks around commercial premises.
Exterior walls exposed to the sun, treated to stay up to 10 °C cooler.

A combined cooling and waterproofing system for roofs that need both.
All Panache products carry Green Pro and GRIHA certification, and EPD and CRRC certification for the high SRI range are in process. Projects using Panache cooling products report a reduction in power costs, CO2 emissions and GHG emissions, with better thermal comfort, health benefits and indoor environment.

A cool roof coating is a binder, usually organic or silicone, combined with pigments and additives. It protects roof membranes for a longer life and reflects solar radiation for lower air conditioning cost.
The main components are the binder, pigments, reflective pigments and water. Water carries the solids and gives the viscosity that allows a thin, even coat. Most white coatings in use are water based.
Panache manufactures an energy efficient white reflective elastomeric coating that reflects up to 92 percent of visible light and keeps the roof much cooler than aluminium, black or non-reflective roofing. Lower temperature lowers energy use, and the elastomeric coat adds years to the roof and avoids the cost of re-roofing.
