Industrial roofs take the full force of the sun. Metal sheet sheds, warehouses, factories and storage tanks absorb solar radiation all day and pass the heat to the people, machines and goods below. Roof cooling solutions for industries use high SRI coatings, based on IR reflection technology, to reflect that radiation before it becomes heat. The result is a cooler shop floor, a lower cooling load and a roof that is protected from thermal stress. Panache combines cooling with waterproofing so that an industrial roof is managed for both heat and leakage.
Green Pro certified high SRI systems for sheds, factory roofs and the surrounding site
Panache supplies a Green Pro certified range of high SRI coatings for roofs, walls, pavements, driveways and roads. The systems use NIR reflection technology and nanotechnology, which reduces heat generation at the surface and stops heat from entering the working space. For industrial sites, the same range covers the shed roof, the plant walls and the internal roads and yards.

Know MoreAlmost 58 to 60 percent of the sun's radiation is infrared. When it falls on an industrial roof with low reflectivity, it converts into heat energy and raises the temperature of the sheet or slab. Industrial sheds, tanks and other built structures exposed to the sun reach 60 to 75 °C and pass that heat indoors.
A roof cooling solution reverses this. The coating reflects infrared radiation away from the roof, so the substrate stays cooler. High thermal emittance adds a second effect by helping the surface radiate away the heat it does hold. Roofs treated with high SRI systems stay up to 20 to 28 °C cooler than conventional roofs in peak summer, and walls stay up to 10 °C cooler.
For an industrial buyer, the number to check is the SRI, which should be above 100, together with the aged value that the coating retains after exposure to dust, sun and rain.
At an ambient temperature of 45 °C, a metal roof can reach 80 °C and a cement roof 65 to 70 °C. A shed with a large metal roof turns into a heat source. Workers face heat stress, ventilation and cooling equipment work harder, and products or materials stored inside are exposed to higher temperatures.
Cooling load is the largest controllable energy cost in most enclosed industrial spaces, and it is driven by the heat entering through the roof. Reducing the roof surface temperature reduces heat gain, lowers the demand on air conditioning and ventilation, and cuts peak power demand.
Roof cooling is also a passive strategy against the Urban Heat Island effect. Industrial estates have large roof areas, so treating them reduces the heat released into the surrounding air and helps the local climate. Lower electricity demand also means lower greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
Repeated heating and cooling makes roofs expand and contract. Cooler roofs experience less of this cycle, which reduces cracking and extends roof life. This is where roof cooling connects with industrial waterproofing solutions.

Panache products are Green Pro and GRIHA certified. The company is in the process of obtaining EPD certification and CRRC certification for the high SRI cooling range. Using Panache cooling products lowers power costs, CO2 emissions and GHG emissions, and improves thermal comfort, health benefits, product quality and the indoor environment of the premises.

A cool roof coating has a binder, generally an organic or silicone compound, mixed with pigments and additives. It gives two benefits: it protects the roof membrane for a longer life cycle, and it reflects solar radiation to reduce air conditioning cost.
The main ingredients are the binder, pigments, reflective pigments and water. Water is the liquid carrier that lets the coating be applied as a thin layer, and most white coatings today are water based.
The white reflective elastomeric coating manufactured by Panache reflects up to 92 percent of visible light and keeps the roof much cooler than aluminium, black or non-reflective roofing. Lower roof temperature means lower energy use and cost, and the elastomeric layer protects the substrate, adds years to the roof and avoids tear-offs and re-roofing.
