METAL CARE – RUST REMOVAL (LIGHT)

Rust Protector and Cleaning

Not all rust needs the same treatment. Surface rust – the light orange bloom that shows up on metal before it’s had time to eat into the surface – responds well to a milder chemical treatment. Rustop PC4 is formulated to remove surface oxidation and leave the metal in a clean, treatable state, ready for a protective lacquer and finishing coat to go on.

Exposed metalwork showing early rust or grime, not heavy corrosion

Applications (Procedure)

  • Assess the metal – RPC suits light maintenance; heavier corrosion needs Rustop PC2 or PC4 first
  • Apply RPC to clean and treat the surface in one pass
  • Repeat on a routine maintenance schedule

Both, in a single treatment – it lifts surface dirt, grime, and light oxidation while leaving behind a layer that actively resists new rust from forming, instead of treating cleaning and protection as two separate jobs.

RPC is built for routine maintenance and early rust or grime, not heavy corrosion. If the metal has significant existing rust, treat it with Rustop PC2 or PC4 first, then move to RPC for ongoing upkeep.

As part of a routine maintenance schedule between full rust-treatment cycles – regular light treatment with RPC helps extend the interval before the metal needs aggressive rust removal again.
